Neil Atkinson is joined by Sean Rogers and Ben Johnson to look back at Southampton and talk about what happens next for this Liverpool side who find their season on a little bit of a tightrope.
With one eye on Chelsea they ask what Klopp can change to keep things fresh for The Reds. is it approach? Shape? Use of players? What would you do now?
people were singing for Origi because Sturridge offers nothing
Good shout Sean on the ‘give up’ mentality. Klopp and the team won’t give up so all of us need to support the team 100%. There is plenty to play for.
Always enjoy the show, but if Albie’s the answer, you’ve got to ask yourself, what’s the question? He can’t pass.
Guys,
Just my 2p worth. I flew over from Belfast for the game, was frozen, bought pizza at half time and used the cardboard to put under my feet in the new stand for the 2nd half.
At 42 minutes I went for a piss. As soon as Southampton scored I left to get the train.
I cursed (a lot) at the referee, called Sturridge a lazy *insert expletive here* many a time (letting the ball run in the last 5 minutes was unforgiveable, he gave the southampton guy a couple of yards and the ball didnt go out and they played it up and well we know the rest), sang songs and shouted until I was hoarse…..
Whilst you give off at people there for a day out remember we didnt score against Southampton for 180 odd minutes. Let me repeat that SOUTHAMPTON and 180 minutes. Other than Forster almost throwing it into his own net I cant remember a single shot on target.
Get behind those guys, in that cold, on that night. No. Support the team at all costs, well no, when they play shite let them know. Id have been happy for them to walk off to an empty stadium last night, maybe that would tell more of a story than people clapping them off.
How many times did we pump a corner in to see it headed clear, how many times did we see a free kick go in and see it headed clear, how many times did we flick a high ball up from play and see it headed clear… its not just Southampton either. Teams pack the defence and just head clear.
How many times did we see a player take the ball and run into the box… they are a lot easier to count and less than the fingers on one hand (and Im counting the last 4 games here).
I was there for Dortmund, Ive been over for about 10 games this season.
I have a ticket for the Chelsea game and am I going to drop the guts of 200 quid to come and watch the same shite, no I’ll pass thanks. I’ll do the same as the players, pass back or sideways rather than forward. Ive already spent more than a season ticket and umpteen saveaway tickets this season already.
Can I also point out that I cant remember if we have scored from a corner this year either and Ive seen every game, either live or on TV.
The problem isnt the people there for a day out, stop making excuses and clouding the issue. With the talent there we should be winning that game last night or at the very least looking as if we were going to score sometime this century.
It cuts both ways, atmosphere was superb at the start of the night and the team killed it.
The team killed it, not the fans, not the daytrippers, not the occasional folk like me. The team.
I dont mind losing as you cant win them all but at least give a shit, give us something to talk about on the way home, win lose or draw.
People forget that the 4-2-3-1 / 4-4-1-1- with Firminho behind Sturridge helped us get to a European final last season. If there is a “Plan B,” as Sean suggests, to compensate for the loss of the Mane/Coutinho/Henderson axis, I think that might be it.
