The Pink after Liverpool crawl to a 0-1 victory at Plymouth Argyle sees Neil Atkinson, Steve Graves, Paul Senior and Craig Hannan look into who can take credit from that sort of game and whose reputation has taken a knock.
Expect discussion around squad numbers, Lucas Leiva and Kev Stewart.
The referee was just about shite enough to give them a goal, but still pretty sure it was 0-1, lads.
I don’t know about that Moreno shout gents. The first half was a nightmare, he got roasted by the gangly fella about 5 times. Anything they got came down the left. Trent on the other hand, was solid as a rock. The covering tackle he made to deny that brute of a striker was immense and probably saved extra time. Anyway, it’s all subjective. Objectively it was a bloody hard watch. Unsurprisingly, the young lads looked a lot more cohesive after the senior pros came off. Probably our best period.
Thank you the Pink. I listened to this BEFORE watching the match.
I will now NOT watch this match following your glowing review and instead do great things with the hour and a half you have given me.
Always doing a great job guys. thank you. I don’t know how you were able to come up with a pink show for this game. :-)
Would like to see our young lads graft somewhere (on loan) where there are men playing for their lives e.g. league one, two. Think it would do Woodburn, Stewart some good and would give Liverpool an indication of where they really are, less so in terms of ability more in terms of mental character.
I know Klopp says he thinks the best place for our players is at Liverpool, but I think games like Plymouth may change his mind.
Really good points about the Academy Players and Academy ‘thinking’ compared to full meaningful fixtures in the cup or any league. I think players need more exposure to football at a competetive level. A lad who will play against us on Saturday for Swansea, Alfie Mawson, was sent on loan from Brentford to Wycombe. He said it was exactly what he needed because at Brentford he was playing ‘Academy football’. Went he went to a football league club you are treated like an adult and given responsibility because there are football league points on the line. Has has jumped 4 divisions in 3 seasons,
Jordon Ibe in fairness played a full season in the Championship with Derby, I just don’t think he has the game intelligence required.
When Woodburn dropped into central midfield in the second half, i was struck by the number of times he received the ball amongst a crowd and turned to make space for himself in much the same way Philippe does. At least twice when he pulled that turn, my first reaction was to actually think it was Phil on the ball until Ben emerged from the crowd running with it.
Moreno???
sorry lads not having that, he is awful and i hate seeing him anywhere near the pitch, he is always caught out of position, then he has to try make up 30 yards which ends with a flying tackle from behind or side…he was roasted a few times tonight and was pulled out with other players covering for him…i think he gets a sympathy vote cause ‘he aint that bad’ well he is and needs to go…
poor match, hard watch, put it to bed…
whack the swans on sat morning!!!
