ON the manager this one, needed a momentum builder for Tuesday but decided to throw the kids in knowing we’re a team under massive pressure.
Also, a disclaimer, I’m furious and I’m also not trying to bury the kids, but it’s the ratings…
Loris Karius: 6
Personally don’t think he’s got any business coming for the first goal, heard otherwise, like, but I’m not having it.
Decent save one-on-one to deny Wolves a third.
Connor Randall: 3
Got a mate who occasionally gets the team early, thought he was taking the piss with this one, absolutely no idea what the thinking was behind playing him after two home defeats on the spin.
Joe Gomez: 2
Kind of game that can finish off a Liverpool career that, needed taking off because his head had clearly gone.
Sure he’ll recover but was absolutely abject.
Ragnar Klavan: 3
Looks alright when he can be carried, nowhere near good enough when he has to be the carrier.
Alberto Moreno: 4
Easy scapegoat, isn’t he? Especially when you do the things everyone criticises you for?
Stupidly went to ground for the second after doing the hard bit and catching up with his man.
Sake.
Lucas Leiva: 2
How can we be lovers when we can’t be friends.
Felt like him and Georginio Wijnaldum were playing their own game unaware of what was going on around them.
Georginio Wijnaldum: 3
Him and his fellow ‘to-me-to-you Chuckle Brother’ mate Lucas in the middle absolutely fucking stank the place out today.
Pair of them needed to look after the young lads and take some responsibility but did the exact opposite.
Ovie Ejaria: 6
Only one who tried to make any real forward movements in the midfield, which is ridiculous considering he’s the junior of the three.
Ben Woodburn: 6
Again, let down by his supposed seniors and on a hiding to nothing.
Constantly trying to get in behind but wasn’t getting the ball anywhere quick enough.
Roberto Firmino: 5
Effort and application but doesn’t link up well with Divock Origi, looked brighter with his mate with him. Surprised he got hooked given the other candidates.
Divock Origi: 4
The record books will show that he scored, but frankly astonished he was still on the pitch to do so.
Then compounds everything by fluffing his lines to level things up moments later.
SUBS
Philippe Coutinho: 6
Came on to save the day against a team that already had a 2-0 lead to hold on to, having said that, looked dangerous if a little too deep at times.
Daniel Sturridge: 5
Desperate for anything and not wearing it well, dropping deep again to find the ball when we need him up the pitch.
Saying that, given the chance of actually being found by a teammate today in a dangerous area and without having to beat 10 men was zero.
Emre Can: 6
Gave him shit recently, so an apology of sorts, played with more conviction in however long he was in the pitch for than most of his teammates in 90.

We finally sell Skrtel and then we buy Klavan ha ha. Lack of investment to buy quality players to populate the squad. Origi getting worse and worse despite the odd goal and Lucas is a bad joke at this stage. Immobile and full of errors.
Our squad should be much stronger. But with FSG it’s always about doing it on the cheap. Their minds won’t even notice this result today: getting Sahko out the door for a nice fee is all that’s on their mind currently.
Hilarious.
Focussing on the League. Lots of other managers would have bought/trained up cover for a player going to Africa midseason. No way Ojo was up for the job . We are given the midfield and blocked, countered, or frightened on set plays. Difficult to fix if we are not going to buy a couple of experienced athletes. Draw the oppo on a bit more, so we can get behind with pace? Even Arsenal ie. against Man City away a couple of seasons back, are prepared to play rope-a-dope.
The lack of movement, particularly dangerous forward runs, from midfield made me want to weep. Did we really pay that much for Wijnaldum to nestle comfortably into a David Batty role? Why are the players taking static positions in the box and expecting a decent ball come — it won’t? They need to make the runs and create the space if they want a calculated pass, rather than a hopeful cross, to come their way.
Unmitigated dogshit.
Klopp gets a 1/10 for playing a mixed bag. I’d rather he played all the kids or none at all. This way the first team gets rest and time to rethink how to take on Chelsea. The kids would have had a chance to play some football and allow Gerrard and Klopp to see what they have as backup.
As for Klavan and Lucas they really are not good players forget great. Never were. Lucas gives great Brazilian football players a really bad name and Estonia doesn’t exist. ;)
It would be better to lose this FA cup game playing all kids instead of bringing on the senior players and allowing them to continue to be clueless in front of goal. The loss would have been justified to some degree.
Klopp has no answer for the double-decker bus and we have becoming fast known as Sideways FC. Lambert looks like a genius.
Watched a bit of Chelsea and Brentford hoping for a Brentford rally, but Chelsea look so assured and positive in their game. Wingers, probing passes, shots on target, etc. All of their players even run properly, compared to Gini W, Henderson, etc who run like fucking ducks or ballerinas. The freekick they got was taken by Willian who placed the ball down with such confidence, took it well and scored. Chelsea are going to turn us into the Prawn Sandwich Brigade, or maybe they don’t need to.
I fear that Mane is not going to make a big difference. Most of our players have reached their potential. He may only add to an extra sideways pass.
Even if we miraculously beat Chelsea we will lose to Hull, who will set up the same as the past three teams and play a counter. Our lot will rinse and repeat.
Anfield atmosphere or lack of it, the team and probably the manager look done for the season.
Looking at our lineup without Mane today I forgot to mention the current roster of forwards in teams including the Reds, who have pace and can beat their men in one-on-ones.
Arsenal: Sanchez, Ox, Walcott
Chelsea: Hazard, Pedro, Willian
Man City: Sterling, Gabriel Jesus, Sane, Navas
Man U: Mikhtarian, Martial, Rashford
Liverpool: Mane
FSG’s problem or Klopp’s then?
My personal ratings were quite similar, top to bottom. But we’re in agreement…Lucas was absolute garbage today.
3-0 against the rent boys. We will batter them. Has always been thus. These minor battles lost are strategic in winning the war. Let ’em think we are utter shite by playing predictable and ,er , shite. Less emotion. More focus. Vorsprung durch Jurgen Klopp.
This is a blip. A small storm. Walk on with hope. Klopp is an awesome manager, but it doesn’t mean we will win every game. It’ll all be sound. It isn’t nice to lose, and not to keep on losing, but support your team through good and bad – it is all going to turn out fine.
If you think Moreno was better than Wijnaldum who was better than Lucas all of whom were worse than Ejaria, you ought to reconsider your understanding of football and definitely go in for an eye-exam.
Ever considered that, actually, it might be you, mate?
I think Moreno was better than Wijnaldum, who was better than Lucas (I may have given him a 1 though), and Ejaria was the best player in red first half.
Maybe you can explain how Lucas played better than Ejaria then because you’ll struggle to find anyone agreeing with you on that shot. If that means most people don’t have an understanding of football then sound.
Lucas gets stick but at least he was playing a forward pass when he could. The squad is paper thin and FSG have to invest in top talent or whoever is manager is going to struggle. Yes we can criticise Klopp for today’s line up and the last 3 pitiful displays but he only has a few really top drawer, stand out players to call upon. The energy and momentum built up in the first half of the season could only really be maintained if Klopp could swap like with like when he wanted to, and to choose different types of player for different challenges, but he hasn’t had that luxury.
I don’t know if FSG have not backed Klopp when he’s asked for quality recruits or if Klopp decided he could wait until summer, but either way we’re paying for it now. Too many just decent players like Henderson, Lovren, Wjnaldum, Milner and Clyne alongside sub standard such as Moreno, Klaven and the declining Lucas and Sturridge. People like Gomez and Woodburn should be allowed to develop alongside strong first teamers not chucked in with the odds and sods and hope for the best.
The good thing for us is that our first 11 is more than OK and with Mane returning, plus the fact that we do a have an experienced manager with proven success. we will hang in there for the rest of the season; FSG will decide in summer what 2017/18 will be like.
Moreno is the easy scapegoat, and I am not sure he is as bad as I make out, but I don’t want to see him in a Liverpool shirt again. He’s a calamity.
I often think he doesn’t actually want the ball. He moves away from the obvious space where he would be in a good position to receive a pass.
On the 2nd goal, he was running much much faster than the fella with the ball. Why jump into a tackle when still behind him?
And I am no football expert, so can someone explain why he always wants to cut in towards the centre? Shouldn’t he be the bloke closest to the left touch line most of the time? He kept drifting in, leaving Firmino to move wider.
Why was that?
Dunno why, but I have the feeling we’re going to beat Chelsea now. More so than if we’d won today.
Spot on Andy. Spot on.
I even bloody said “me to you” etc during the game.
Beer.
Glad you gave the senior players the slaughtering they deserved – no leadership at all for the younger lads, most of whom did the best they could in the circumstances. I’ve now reached the same get-the-fuck-out-of-my-life stage with Lucas that I had with Skrtel after 2-3 at Southampton. Can we all just give footy up for a bit? I’m so exhausted.
Can anyone confirm, since the new stand are we allocating too many seats to the away fans ?!?! They are very welcome of course but..ya know….
It’s the FA Cup mate, the away team gets c.15 per cent of the ground capacity.
There is a lot of hysteria here. However if as the manager says the performance levels have not dropped off, then why not play more of the first 11 today? There are still 3 days before Chelsea, not ideal but manageable. I guess that he has decided that this competition just does not matter compared to the League and at least 4th place. We’re just going to have to accept that’s how clubs see the FA Cup now.
The problem is that some of our second tier players – Sturridge, Origi, Can, Klavan plus others – have suffered a loss of form and some of our key first tier players – Mane, Coutinho, Henderson – are coming back from injury or in blooming Africa. So the group we’ve got at the moment – whether first or second tier – are not at the level required for the level of opposition, whatever that may be. Though of course we could still have got away with it had we played a stronger team today from the off.
Lucas Moreno Gomez even Origi not getting enough games to get any rythm and even when they do come in and do good job they know there not getting in followung game must b fucking soul destroying young boys at least year away from first team si cant really be criticised reagulars Firmino Klavan Wjnaldum no excuses . Least Klop took of fullback rather tham c/mid and went 3 at back if hed dun that against Swansea might have won proves hes learning . Still think hell get it right
Klopp is unsure what to do. Why play Randall? Stewart dropped to accommodate Lucas? Moreno well FFS he is absolutely useless. No penetration,no spirit,no bottle and Klopp allows this to happen. After 30mins should have hooked Randall why let them get second goal? To many negative issues at the moment to overlook our situation.
Too generous on Karius. He was beaten a third time except Lucas happened to be in the way to block. No confidence in him.
Sturridge should get an extra point for the assist that really makes the goal. The rest seem spot on.
Emre Can always looks better when he’s allowed to do his tank run thing, but still seems to lack ideas.
Klopp wanted us out of the fa cup now the league cup push is over. He’ll be made up. I think he’ll relish it, but no excuses now, must and will, win the league.
Not convinced by him but I can’t believe you have buried Gomez by giving him the worst rating of the season? Surely others worthy of that. A collective disappointment but no need for that
The keeper should definitely come for the cross on the first one. But holding him as a scapegoat for that results would be rubbish. 100% the Manager’s fault.
That is what I thought, that ball was in the air for a very long time and I kept on expecting the keeper to come for it. I don’t think it is scapegoating to say that conceding a goal in the first minute changes the whole game.
He has played well recently and I’m sure he has the potential to be a very good keeper but I am still laying the unravelling of this season at his feet. The Bournemouth and West Ham games really threw us off track and we haven’t really recovered since.
Moreno is an easy scapegoat because he is woeful. Should have been bombed out after Norwich & Basel. Both goals resulted from his initial foul & losing the ball after he’d already won it. Presumably the 4 was 1 for tying each bootlace, 1 for starting the game, & 1 for lasting 90 minutes
Mad to me that Gomez gets a new deal after barely playing in Red. Make the kid earn it when it matters at least and not just on the training pitch.
Worrying the seeming lack of willingness to dribble and take a man on. Two or three touches, slow the ball down, pass backwards. Gini seemed to be the biggest offender of that today.
Low expectations but high hopes for Tuesday. Up the Reds
Bearing in mind JG’s lack of game time I thought he was outstanding in a weak defensive line up. He had blistering pace and covered well for others and was strong in the tackle. The only understandable down side with little game time was his touch or decision making. How old is he again!! Fucking great player in the making.
Can anyone tell me why Moreno just didn’t take the fella out for the 2nd. Words fail me for how poor he really is. And yes, he’s incapable of holding his correct position always moving inside where he’s even shitter there.
I am always impressed with Lucas and his unswerving loyalty. year after year Europe’s elite come knocking offering big money but the Brazillian is having none of it. Can we give him the testimonial he is angling for and shunt him out of the door?
