What can be said about Liverpool’s defeat to Swansea? It’s as much therapy session as podcast with Rob Gutmann, Paul Cope and Chris Maguire. Three men in search of meaning, in search of encouragement, in search of finding a way to put a smile on host Neil Atkinson’s face.
It is another which isn’t safe for work. It may not be safe if you are operating heavy machinery. It isn’t safe for anyone but we have to start somewhere.
There is a look ahead to Southampton also included.
It’s The Anfield Wrap. It’s meant to hurt.

Direct: The Anfield Wrap – Shambolic
Came away from yesterday’s match actually feeling angry. Didn’t feel that after our other defeats this season.
Yesterday’s defeat felt self-inflicted. Firmino was the only Liverpool outfield player who showed the level of intensity and work rate required. Everyone else looked like they couldn’t be arsed.
Cold day, early kick off, not a very glamorous opposition…
Watch us be amazing against Chelsea next week. But it’ll all be too late. If Chelsea beat Hull later today (which they will) then our hopes of the title are gone.
Good work all round.
All this talk about winning the league…With our defense, we were never gonna win the league. I get the optimism though – I thought we had a chance of winning it ( Before December).
I agree that Jurgen made some bad tactical mistakes and the team were very poor. That said, one point not made was how poor were the crowd? We can be the best but too often in less glamorous games, Anfield is far too often silent. It was clear that the team were strugling 1st half but zero encouragement meant that it just got worse.
Let’s make some real noise on Wednesday and help the lads!
An idea for a podcast – Americans ask who was the ‘ Mount Rushmore’ of Basketball/Baseball players – the 4 best players ever to play that sport, in their personal opinion.
Would be a good listen, to hear people’s opinions on who would be their personal Mount Rushmore. It would be a fantastic podcast, imo. Their opinion, of the 4 best players ever to play for us
Love TAW – the best podcast out there imo, Not just the best football podcast, but THE best podcast. Thanks.
Was saying to my mate before the game when we seen the team why was Lallana playing front 3?
Why have that midfield with little creativity against a team that was so obviously coming to park the bus?
Who not just play everyone in their best positions and then fit Sturridge in wide right?
Why take Coutinho off when we clearly needed someone to open up the game and make something happen?
Why wait so long to take Lallana outta the front 3 and back into midfield?
Why not just start Matip especially against a big guy like Llorrente?
We should go out and try and batter them 5-0. We don’t. It’s the worst performance of the season but unfortunately it feels like it has been coming. We have not been able to find a way to get the best out of Sturridge and Divvy. Hopefully Klopp will learn from this and we won’t have another performance like this for a long time.
The talk about Sturridge is nonsense. He hasn’t played well as part of the team when he’s played. And when he came on, he was anonymous. Rob Gutman admitted as much.
I think criticism of the manager is warranted when you talk about a thin squad and not having figured out how to play more effectively when teams park the bus.
Agreed on just about everything; I thought we were more ambitious this season but the manager seems happy with an 8th place lineup again. Like everyone else, I love him, but he’s making howlers and I don’t like coaches who are overly wedded to systems. Play 2 up top for god’s sake, man! It’s not heresy particularly given the way Bpbby F tracks back.
Interesting discussion about the crowd make-up for the different competitions. I think some of our best atmospheres in recent years have come in league cup games. I also agree with Neil’s point about the number of youngsters at those games, but I see that as one of the factors in the improved noise level; they bring a distinct lack of cynicism and self-consciousness. We’re consistently dire in the league at home as many have pointed out before including myself and contrary to Chris’s point, that definitely includes the games that are largely local. The Swansea game sounded worse than normal because their fans made very little noise so the whole place was like a graveyard. There’s no getting away from Klopp’s disappointment with the Anfield crowd and it’s hard to see how it’s going to improve soon.
Tuesday. Still sour. No easy games, got to be 100% every game. Specially us. We are not rope a dope grinders we are pressure and concentration merchants, less than 100% and we are a bit ho hum .. relatively easy to play against.
