Bournemouth Team News
Jürgen Klopp spoke to the press at Melwood today ahead of his side’s trip to Bournemouth. He confirmed that Daniel Sturridge will not be in the squad for the game as he recovers from a calf problem. Meanwhile, Adam Lallana and Roberto Firmino are both back in training and are being assessed prior to Sunday.
The German also confirmed that Sheyi Ojo has recovered from his injury but will require training and Under-23 games in order to get back into the first team picture.
Sturridge — bad news. Lallana and Firmino — potentially good. Ojo — hope to see him back as soon as possible.
No Departure For Dan
In other Sturridge news, Klopp insisted that the player is not for sale despite ongoing speculation linking the striker with a move away. He has struggled to nail down a first team spot this season but does remain a valuable member of the squad and, as such, his manager isn’t looking to sell.
He said: “There is absolutely no thought to sell any player from the first team squad. I don’t think it would make sense.”
Nonsense story, always has been. Why can’t Liverpool have strength in depth but the likes of Chelsea can?
A Date With The Saints
The dates for the League Cup semi-final against Southampton have been revealed and it isn’t particularly good news for the Reds.
The first leg will take place on Wednesday January 11, kicking off at 7.45pm. The second leg will be played on Wednesday January 25, with an 8pm kick-off.
Gives Manchester United an extra day to prepare for their Premier League clash with Liverpool on January 15. Sake.
