Neil Atkinson is joined by Ian Salmon and Sean Rogers to pore over the finer points of Liverpool’s victory over Sunderland by two goals to nil.
Did Liverpool display a new-found maturity in their eventual dismantle of Sunderland having gradually wore down a team that has never more been built in it’s managers image or did the Reds make hard work of Moyes’Wearsiders?
All this and more in microscopic detail on your TAW Player Review.
I think this is the fittest Liverpool team I have ever seen.
We just didn’t move the back quickly enough on Saturday. We can do it against teams who sit in – Look at the first half vs Palace, for example.
Good thing out of the 4 players injured we’ll get Lallana, Sturridge and Firmino for Bournemouth. Great show even with the Wuthering Heights reference lol.
Great show lads. I think you overstated the patience aspect tho.
At times we rushed the final pass (straight balls) and at other times we were too safe (ie Hendo playing the ball straight back to Lovren. No half turn receiving the ball looking to play fwd).
Delighted with the win, seeing how we were far from our fluent best, and the players’ touch seemed to be off, almost throughout. We’d have dropped points last season.
I’ve never seen us lose so many aerial duals in a game either. VA was unstoppable in the air.
Final mention is for Karius. In all my years I have never seen a keeper give a corner away direct from a goal kick…wtf was that about?!! He seems to be growing in confidence now tho, which is really good to see.
