Do you think the collective brick shitting on set pieces is now endemic to Liverpool support after many years of defending them poorly? We have changed much of the personnel and the manager in the last few years and the problem hasn’t changed. The collective intake of breath when those set pieces come in would mess with anyone’s head I reckon.
I am completely with Jon, there is no way I would play Karius for the Utd game. The damage to his confidence of getting dropped for it would be nothing compared to a bad mistake that costs us that game. All goodwill in the supporter base would evaporate instantly. If it were any other game then I would probably stick with Karius but the Utd game is such a big game no matter where we are on the table but especially as things currently stand. If he is rooted to his line against Swansea and Hull he won’t be able to move against Utd, and Jon is right to say that they have the perfect team to punish weak goalkeepers (but nothing else).
We have just been through this all with Mingolet and got to the point where only his inability to play with the ball at his feet is letting him down. It would be crazy to sign up for more punishment on it. Take the pressure off Karius by getting him out of the spotlight and bring him back into in the cup game against Spurs which will probably give him the opportunity to showcase his other skills and then reevaluate it from there.
Absolutely disgraceful comments about Karius. Calling him a ‘risk’. Mingolet has been a risk for 3 Fucking years!! Klopp knows more about football than any of you, he knows Karius!! Good luck getying people to pay for that cap every month.
