OUR show analysing the how and why of media stories around Liverpool FC is back.
Host Gareth Roberts is joined by John Gibbons, Paul Senior, Neil Docking for the first Back Page of the season.
Up for discussion for the panel –
Whether the media try to create trouble for the sake of a headline?
Daniel Sturridge – Where does arguably the most talented striker in the squad fit into the managers plans long term?
And finally, whether it is important for the the modern day manager to be able to ‘play the game’ in the media?
All that and more in a belting ‘Back Page’ return to TAW Player.
I am working late, on me own and your show was the perfect companion. In fact, I am about to listen over again. Look forward to the next one.
I watch pre-match pressers on you tube (This Is Anfield) and read the Anfield Wrap.
That’s it….I don’t read the footy press!
Good show that.
i really enjoyed the show , i think its an important subject , press coverage . especially when the press is perceived to be so london centric and man united biased . which considering there are so many liverpool linked journalists is quite interesting . i am looking forward to the next show , great work boys !
Excellent show. I think last night was the first time I’m really questioned what Klopps motive is. Some interesting opinions regarding that. One thing I thought listening to this was wouldn’t it great if we could get some kind of co-operative going among the fans were we listed the Liverpool sites, journals etc that we know aren’t going to talk shit and said – only read Liverpool articles on those sites. Could never happen of course but I refer to the click bait bullshit where our players or manager is thrown under a bus for ulterior motives. It winds me up to the extent I feel like going on Twitter and abusing the journalists responsible. They’re taking us for fools and basically, they can. It will always serve the purpose. I’d love to fight back but it’s a battle we can’t win. Personally, I refuse to click on any headline that structured in the way of ‘You won’t fuckin believe what this Liverpool player has done’. Simply not interested. John would never be accepted for a job with such outlets. Far too reasoned and unsensational.
I enjoyed the show very much. Some football journalists simply want to stir up trouble to get attention or are biased but will not admit their bias. You expose these people and it is appreciated. Gareth is a very good host and his guests provided incisive observations. More of the same please.
This show exemplifies why I am a faithful reader/listener to the Wrap. More, please…
Great listen that. Look forward to the next one
Thoroughly enjoyed this show and hope that you do another one soon. Some very interesting insights and views on how the press work. Loved the fact that although there was plenty of humour it was also done seriously – if AFQ is good fun and the far reaches of humour, then this was a nice balanced broadsheet of a show – bit like the old Indy!
Cheers
