But it doesn’t mention that we have only been attacked five times this season and every time we have conceded a goal.
Our defence is hopeless. It’s got steadily worse every year and it is not the goalkeepers fault. It is the fault of the centre backs and the lack of cover from midfield. No Lucas = no cover.
The centre backs bought in the last few years can’t defend. Lovren, Sakho and Klaven are useless.
Folk decried Skrtel and Agger but they were proper defenders.
There is no point in spending hours every week eulogising how we are the best team in Europe when we finished eighth last year and have already conceded an average of 2.5 goals a game this year.
And another thing…
Would it have been so terrible to have had Benteke in the side on Saturday?
Against a packed defence, defending deeper and deeper, a Benteke on the far post would have been a lot more effective than trying to thread endless through balls and taking pot shots from distance.
I watched West Ham yesterday and after failing to make everything from open play in the end they just crossed to a big man at the back post and 1-0, three points
That was a really enjoyable listen and excellent analysis.
The biggest disappointment for me about Saturday’s game was the sub standard and frankly sloppy performance from every single Pool player. It is still very early days and all is not lost but this coupled with the complete lack of leadership on the field from some key players is very concerning so early in the season. I suspect Jürgen was privately foaming at the mouth at the performance and knows only too well the group collectively need to be held to account
I’m hoping Sturridge gains better fitness and form due to the Euro’s and felt that hindered his performance. In saying that, the service from the midfield wasn’t the best. I could see where Coutinho and Firmino play in Sturridge and visa versa Sturridge could of played in Lallana on one occasion.
We just aren’t a klopp team yet. arsenal, only part of the second half.
Burnley we were supposed to play out of the back to draw some of their players out of their own half which is fine but then crossing into their half we were supposed to resume the high tempo passing and stretching their defence.
But we didn’t. we were ponderous.
We’re just not a klopp team. That’s the problem. The players have to roll their sleeves up and put the intensity into the game. Fergie’s utd would do it against parked buses and just wouldn’t let up until they forced a mistake.
Play to klopp’s ideals and then mistakes are acceptable. Mistakes without executing the plan is a problem.
Blaiming Klavan for that horrible Clyne pass is rediceles. Clyne can put it out of play if he wants. And then go on and say that Klavan did that because he was bought cheap is beyond ridiceles.
