Christ after the Dortmund result you’d think Klopp and the lads would’ve earned a bit of trust. Yes it wasn’t a perfect result (obviously) but there would’ve been nothing wrong with a 0-0 result. That’s a bread and butter result in an away fixture in Europe. When Real walked away from city with the same result the other day, they would’ve been happy. They’re saying ‘good luck comming to our ground and getting a result’ – we should feel the same. They’ve scored and that changes the tie, but we have enough about us to smash them at Anfield. Up the Reds
Agreed Luke. I understand the frustration but there has to be a tactical reason why Klopp didn’t use Sturridge, maybe he was a bit fatigued, maybe Klopp was hoping for a 0-0 result to grind it out and go full tilt at Anfield? Ibe was handy, he coped. Everybody coped and it was away. Klopp had to have a tactical reason for his team and subs. Don’t let the negative set in because Klopp & the team have surprised us so many times this season.
I realize nasal spray may have banned substances but somebody needed some before getting on a pod. *snort*
Yunz think we were complacent? No. Had chances but Allen completely fizzled it. Bad call by ref on Lallana offsides.
Klopp thought he could get a couple goals. Almost did. Missing 4 starters, played okay. Still optimistic.
hi lads just listened to the pink interesting podcast and good discussion I agree expected the starting line up to be what it was and also expected sturridge to come on at 60-70min but as the game developed I thought it was more suited to benteke than sturridge as we were getting in down the right but had no one in the box if as expected he brings on sturridge for firmino is it like for like meaning will sturridge as he does keep dropping deep and getting involved in build up play so we still have no one in box when we get down the right as we did all night 1-0 is a disappointing result but it came in 92 min from our only mistake 2nd leg will be interesting keep up the good work lads
Do City put Aguero on after 60? What about Leicester and Vardy? Spurs and Kane? This ‘let two-thirds of the game pass by before you get your one world-class striker on the pitch’ lark is arrant nonsense. No team anywhere in the world does this, the only exception being a Roma-Totti situation where your proven striker can no longer do a full ninety. Outside of this, you maximise the opportunities for your best player at putting the ball in the net by, you know, having him on the pitch as much as possible. To not start Sturridge in our biggest game of the season is unfathomable. Don’t even get me started on a failure to introduce him once it became obvious that Villareal are not Barca.
We may as well say goodbye to Sturridge now. We’re talking about a player who is not fit for half a season, so if he can’t get a game when he is fit and in form there is no future for him at our club. If Klopp doesn’t sell him, Sturridge submits a transfer request. Which striker of his pedigree is going to be happy playing 30mins at best in the biggest games of the season?
You can only surmise that Klopp has a plan for the team that doesn’t include Sturridge. That is going to have be one majorly kick-ass plan.
