ROB GUTMANN is joined by Peter Hooton and Neil Atkinson to consider another angle on the the ongoing LFC ticketing saga.
The price freezes of last month may have part placated angry supporters but FSG are no closer to solving the crucial ‘access’ problem.
Is the wider issue that watching Liverpool has become too much of a closed shop?
Is much more lateral thinking still required?
Why rely on the club to solve the access problem? Why not form a not for profit entity that can start by raising funds to then go to the club and cut a deal where the club agrees to allow the nfp to handle redistribution of tickets.
I don’t know UK tax law but is there a tax credit for contributions to not for profits? Then get a block of tickets plus act as a clearinghouse for tickets that can then be sold on to under 21s.
The owners are in it for the return. The supporters groups should want to solve access but can use the club’s systems to handle the logistics under the purview of the supporters.
Just a suggestion within the context of the existing ticket system.
At last a group of fans addressing the real issue. No us and them. Just access problems for everyone! Not easy to solve but solutions won’t come until the greater collective accepts the problems for what they are.
