AHEAD of Liverpool’s trip to Wembley to play Manchester City in the Capital One Cup we wondered what Liverpool needed to do to bring the trophy back to Merseyside. So we asked a fella who won two.
Gerard Houllier was manager of Liverpool when we won the League Cup in 2001 and 2003. Neil Atkinson and John Gibbons speak to him about the importance of experience in big games, what you might say to players before a final and what a win in this competition can do to a season.
Gerard Houllier was in Liverpool to speak at an event organised by Liverpool FC Foundation College. For more on the foundation visit their webpage here.
Legend Loved the pop at the former player. Any idea who that was?
Gents – just brilliant! the QUALITY,commitment and consistency of all that TAW is just unreal . We all really appreciate it!
Great to have Carra, Rafa &Houllier on. The latest interview could’ve been better if our former boss had actually answered the questions put to him though.
More more more please that was so good listening to GH I would love an hour or so listening to Gerard tell us about his time at the club
Well done guys
Easily the best moment of the interview was GH saying “……winning a cup final is something but winning a cup final against Man Utd is something different, do you understand what I mean”. Hilarious reaction from the lads. Not sure what he was on about though about having nothing to lose against City, its sounded a little Hodgson-esque in terms of managing expectations down a bit.
