JOHN GIBBONS is joined in in Motel for a late night pink by Ian Salmon, Mike Girling and Andy Heaton for immediate reaction to another disappointing result as Liverpool could only muster a 2-2 draw against Exeter City away in the FA Cup.
Hamstrung, pun fully intended, by a slew of injuries, Jürgen Klopps less than mighty Red’s managed to grab a draw from the jaws of defeat despite the best efforts of some of his senior professionals.
With replay and a payday on the horizon for the daft hatted Paul Tisdale, will Liverpool take the second leg in the same spirit as tonights fixture or will they put a team worthy of the name out to dispatch shit pitched wools of Exeter.
I loved the intro as I was very much the same; what do you make of that ? Impossible ask for motley crew of 11 to be effective on that pitch OR should the philosophy of ‘how we play’ be so consistent through all levels that it’s just like turning up and putting on a uniform ?
No idea. Klopp looks totally bemused by the while experience.
Found it hard to agree with a lot of things mentioned on tonights show. I think because of our current injury crisis, many were watching this looking for a player to say “this guy can come straight in”, which is absolutely ludicrous. This is a friday night game under lights, on the BBC, probably the biggest game a lot of these players have played in, and a lot of them played OK. I wasn’t expecting the world from this young team. To say that you cannot see a single player making it to the first team from this one performance is mad. They got through the game unscathed, which will do them all the world of good.
I love pissed-Gibbo. He’s the most empathetic man in the world.
I’m not apologising for Bogdan, he’s not great (although he’s way better than Jones FFS), but when De Gea let one in from a corner against Bournemouth a couple of weeks ago, he didn’t get hammered by the pundits/commentator/press etc. anything like as much as Bogdan has/is and he’s supposed to be one of the best keepers in the world, not a second string choice in a struggling team.
Just saying.
Great podcasts guys and love the differing points of view, thats what being a Liverpool supporter is all about I guess.
I agree with Dave Hall actually as you simply can’t discount all of these youngsters on one performance and I applaud Jurgen for taking the chance with them.
The pitch was awful but despite this there were some of the kids that impressed me, Ojo being the main one when he came on, Brad Smith impressed also, they were both good.
Bogden simply has to go for sure and should be dropped immediately as it was disgraceful that he missed the ball.
The Liverpool teams in the past have been built from the back with a solid defence and sure handed goalkeeper who talked/shouted at his back four, unfortunately we have neither right now.
I hope Jurgen gives the youngsters another chance to prove themselves as we need them to put a shift in and wear the red shirt with pride as it should be.
To each his/her own, but the notion that Benteke needs or ought to get the benefit of the doubt or sticking up for but Ilori is “fair game” (especially given the patent, open, unabashed bias against him by Gibbo) for severe slating is truly beyond me.
And what’s with picking out one misplaced pass and making a big deal out of it (re Chirivella)? (Gibbo did likewise on a previous occasion with Lucas)
A little bit confused by Andy’s comment on an insurance payout for Enrique. They’ll pay out for a medically assessed career ending injury. They won’t pay out on an opinion that a players legs are gone or the player just deciding he’s had enough of football.
