NEIL ATKINSON and John Gibbons are joined by Simon Hughes to talk about the Steven Gerrard news that Simon broke today.
What could his role be? What has gone on? What could the club be doing differently going forward?
Steven Gerrard will always get Liverpool supporters going…’
Simon sounded like he already knew that he had over-egged the story a little in his Independent piece.
It seems there has been one call between Gerrard and Klopp confirming that Klopp is happy for Gerrard to train with the team, and nothing more.
When I inelegantly stated as much, i.e. that this was a typical B.S. clickbait story, on the FB page for The Anfield Wrap, I was rather summarily told off, to the effect that no, it was a sourced article by a regular contributor to TAW.
Not sourced well enough, apparently.
Cracker.
Before Klopp has run the rule over HIS OWN players, he is being asked to take on board Gerrard coming back into the fold. As Neil A says, why does Gerrard take the defensive position of ” nobody asked me to stay on as coach etc etc” – when he could have asked what options were available.
He is a man who either acts superior to everyone ( ideas of his current abilities), or inferior ( too shy to ask, wasn’t asked, settle scores in a book). He doesn’t feel comfortable asking big name players to think about LFC, is he any good training youth footballers? Seems to me like it is all SG’s to gain, whereas we can do without his Peronality Project at the moment thanks.
I do feel its all very well touting SG for a Senior Academy position ( not even just an Academy position, has to be Senior) but does anyone know if the bloke is a decent coach? Is there anything that shows the bloke can do so?. Not all World Class players can be coaches/managers, that’s not how it works.
It does feel somewhat like the start of a campaign to return SG to Liverpool, my worry would be that if he came in and at some point the team go through the slump, you know full well the media’s position will be ‘SG to be next manager’. We don’t need that for a good while.
