ONE of Liverpool’s most historic seasons is 1985/86.
Dalglish taking over after Heysel as player manager and guiding Liverpool to glory.
In the final part of the 85/86 edition, joining Neil Atkinson are Mike Nevin, Gary Shaw and the brothers Keith and Ian Salmon as they talk the Red’s to glory for 101 glorious minutes.
Had that tape would love to hear it again as I have searched high and low for it for years pity Tyldsley ruined his rep with his manc love
Great stuff and all the more poignant for me as this was the first season I went to Anfield as a football mad kid in the 80s.
Brilliant!! brought back some cracking memories, bought a liverpool/celtic hat at Chelsea away still have it to this day.
This season occurred before I was even born but I loved all four parts of this show. I have also read Mike and Gary’s book, loved that as well. Well done lads. What a season that must have been to have been alive. Are you going to future WWCH shows with this sort of era in mind?
I remember listening to the radio the night we played Leicester & going mental when Oxford scored. As a 14yr old the cup final was massive for me, desperate to see my team win it. Watched the final at my grans as I had with every round on the way. Had flags & huge balloons hanging out the windows from the moment I got up. Still got the video of the whole day build up they used to do back then. Great memory’s.
Thank you.
Best history show so far although strangely I did enjoy the Hodgson season one.
I was at every game that season home and away and the highlights were definitely Watford away in the Cup and Leicester away especially the last few minutes after Oxford had scored.
I can still see Dalglish’s face with his fists clenched when he came to take a corner at Filbert Street.
Brilliant listen, keep it up
So good lads. Many thanks. This has rekindled many a warm memory for me.
Tremendous journalism. Thank you again YNWA
Great episode, one of the most evocative season’s for me. my first two games at Anfield were the 5-0’s v cov and Birmingham. Replayed the cup final countless times both on video and in the back garden. Great to hear others perspectives on those days.
