RODGERS REACTION: PART FOUR
by The Anfield Wrap | Oct 4, 2015 | Podcast, TAW Player | 16 comments
Why now? As a mate just said to me, FSG are wanting to avoid a bidding war with Abramovich.
Good work lads, some cracking points made on all four specials. Nice one!
Trigger points: Mourinho. If Klopp was the first choice should Rodgers fail, then the crisis at Chelsea may well have hastened the decision.
Very good point. Normally you would say Mourinho is untouchable but with Abramovich in charge anything is possible. However that might also make you pause to make a bid (however unlikely) for him. Always thought Mourinho was perfect for Anfield because of his charisma and passion for the club football but I also thought the same about Martin O’Neill ;)
I think FSG wanted Klopp and we prepared to wait which is why Rodgers stayed in the summer, if it works out for Brendan great and if not then as soon as Klopp is available and if Rodgers wobbles then FSG have a replacement
Glad someone said this. Situation at Chelsea is getting very bad indeed. It’s unthinkable and for Blues fans has probably reached a crises of even bigger proportions than it ever was for us. Mourinho is invincible. But just think a moment — for Mourinho to dare Abramovich not to sack him smacks of a real tension. I think FSG are shrewd to make the move now to guarantee they get their man now! When can anyone remember the last time you had two managers of the ilk of Klopp and Ancelotti kicking their heels with no club to go to? It’s a chastening time for all managers at the top end of the quality scale. So FSG have been ruthless. I feel for the Manager because I truly do like him and wanted it to work. I probably would have given him a few more months to work this out, but he didn’t do himself any favours with the comments in the press. Frankly, to say that FSG have never told him that he had to finish in the top 4 is the functional equivalent of saying that your bosses aren’t bothered about winning. Frankly, I don’t believe that for one second. If they’re not there to win then why give BR so much money to spend? Furthermore, you have to know their history as Red Sox owners to know that they aren’t arsed about making changes or splashing cash. This lot may not do things the way we would like them to, but I have to say they have done a lot of good for the club. We were weeks away from administration under Hicks/Gilette. Hicks/Gillette brought Hodgson in on the back of the fact that he had been reasonably successful at Fulham with a shoestring budget. You have to think that FSG were expecting more for their efforts. Let’s see what they do now. Have to think Klopp is in the frame to be the next LFC manager.
TAW
I had City Talk on in the car last night on my way home. Seemed to be a TAW show. I only heard 5 mins when Tony Evans was on and would like to hear it all. Will you be posting this on the site?
Hi mate, no that was just a live special we did as a favour to CityTalk.
Ok, thanks for that!
As others have said, well done lads on getting these specials out despite varying degrees of drunkenness. Brought a few smiles to my Monday morning Melbourne commute. Probably the right decision but Rodgers deserves a lot of credit for having a real crack at it. Good luck to him.
Well in lads,
Good to hear & share in the immediate reactions from all.
As has been reported on other itk blogs Klopp has the job and it seems this was what FSG set up from the end of last Season…..minimising disruption to negotiations/acquisitions, pre-season and giving Rodgers 7/10 games so unless he achieved an amazing turn-around this was always going to be the best time to make the change. Conspiracy theory? I don’t think so.
They knew he had to go and it was just a matter of them and Klopp deciding when best. Gotta feel sorry for O’Driscoll and McAllister but that is business practicality.
Wonder how the players feel?
This one seems like the calm after the storm. Everyone on cracking form across all 4 shows. Worth the subscription alone. Cheers lads
Thanks for them, nails being hit on heads all over the place. Things i learnt:
Neil flirts with men when bevvied.
Gibbo sounded like he needed a cuddle, poor lad.
I would follow Gareth into battle after that.
On that rant the last 12 months have shown what a shower of bastards a lot of our so called “support” really are. Now Rodgers has gone at least the internet warriors and moaners will have to find someone else to vent at it will probaby be mignolet like. Over time they will turn on the manager like they did with Benitez and when its is Klopp theyll end up calling him Klippetty and ripping his choice of cap.
It makes me wonder why they bother and what they get out of supporting Liverpool.
Nice one, Liam. Neil says to tell you that he flirts with men when he’s sober as well!
Haha whatever floats your boat.
Thanks again for the content lads, good work.
