A NEW week and another competition for The Reds. But how seriously should they take it?
Is the League Cup a nuisance that should be avoided, or can it be used as a springboard for greater things?
Should Brendan try to play first team players into form and understanding, or should he be looking to rest key stars and give younger players an opportunity to shine?
All the big(ish) questions answered on this weeks Unwrapped, with Rob Gutmann, Ste Evans, Paul Senior and Adam Smith.
Why is this question even being asked?
The purpose of LFC is to win trophies. The owners may not understand this concept, and the manager and some of the players may not have gotten their heads around it either, but we are not the Liverpool of old and we are in no position to pick and choose which cups are to be won.
If we enter a competition then it is right that we go balls-out to win it.
Anything less makes a mockery of our history.

No it isn’t, and it hasn’t been for many years. Saying something someone once said in the 60s (that’s over half a century ago) doesn’t make it true. If it were as you believe, the club be closed down as a failed project when you balance the money against the amount of duraglit used. Whether you like it or not, all top level clubs are now entertainment products.
The league cup is a waste of time. If you knew your history, you’d know it’s always been an irritating distraction since its inception, where even the Bitters didn’t bother entering.
But as Rodgers is in the shit, he needs a win, regardless of what competition it happens to be in. He doesn’t have the balls to let the fringe and youth have a stab. The only interesting thing for tomorrow is how many empty seats there’ll be.
