Suggestion: Make it a rule that all participants in the Tuesday Review show (at the very least) have watched the match carefully, at least once.
Since watching a match carefully for purposes of useful, knowledgeable analysis kinda takes the ‘fun’ out of it, it would seem ideal for commentators and analysts of LFC football matches who are strong LFC supporters (as the lads on the TR show are) to watch the match twice, the 2nd time being the ‘serious, unemotional, careful, analytical’ viewing.
This, imho, will cut down on the number of unsubstantiated factual statements, speculation, ‘discovery’ of trends and tendencies that are not there, taking as fact what has merely been repeated enough times, etc.
Thanks in advance for considering my suggestion.
What unsubstantiated statements are you referring to Grkstav? I thought the guys got it pretty spot on.
On the Lallana/Ibe switch, I see what Sean is saying but don’t you think that having a left flank of Gomez and Ibe would be a little too inexperienced even for a youth-favouring manager such as Rodgers?
Was going to comment on the “Benteke is not Suarez” article that in terms of what he actually brings to the team tactically Benteke isn’t a million miles away from Suarez. As you guys were saying, one of Suarez’s most underrated qualities is his strength, which allows him to scrap for long balls and roll opponents in tight spaces. In my opinion, what Benteke brings to the team in this regard, and in the ability to blam one in from the edge of the box, will make up for about 70% of what we lost with Suarez. The remaining 30% of the slack, namely the pressing and moments of flare will hopefully be picked up by Firmino, allowing us to play in a similar style to 13/14 when we want to.
Hilarious.
qe?
A 4-3-1-2 has to be the best formation for us. Particularly at home. It gives us the four threats in the team and we have two decent players in almost every position on the pitch.
Main strikers: benteke and sturridge with ings and origi as back up.
In behind: firmino with Ibe (sterling started as a winger) and markovic as back up.
Creative midfielder: coutinho with lallana as back up
Standard midfielders: Milner & hendo with Allen and Can as back up.
LB: Gomez and Moreno
CB: Skrtel and Lov with sakho and Toure as back up
RB: Clyne
Gk: Migs
I really wouldn’t mind if any combination of those players played in those positions in that formation in any home game we had. And I think consistency in the formation will really help the team to gel quicker and start to make Anfield a very difficult ground to come to.
Can’t see Ibe as a 10 myself, it was quite remarkable how well Sterling settled in there in my opinion. Reckon Ibe has all the tools and willingness to learn to play in a front three, it will just take him a while. Would love to see Markovic get a good run there at some point.
Tom, no one saw sterling there either or as a striker, but he became a £50 mil player because we moved him there. As we’re never going to employ old school wingers I think it would be a good position to play him to allow him to gain the instinct of a genuine ‘front 3’ forward. He currently plays like a winger, needs to find out where the goal is.
True about Sterling but my point is that I don’t think it is a trick that will work for just anyone. Sterling and Ibe are very different players, and I don’t think Ibe is tactically as switched on as Raheem. He is working hard on his game and I think he will end up playing well on the right of a front three, but put him in the middle and he would be completely lost, at least at this stage.
Markovic on the other hand could be amazing there given the opportunity I reckon, as he as the vision, pace and an exquisite weight of ball when he is on his game.
i love liverpool
Wipe my demented grannies arse, what a cake load of shit! Ibe is not an attacker! He may be able to re-invent himself as one (para phrasing the knob head, can’t remember his name but based off his first performance of the season its that or knobby)! Benteke? First game of the season no preseason with us so obviously getting to know our play while we get to know his. I know, how about we all regurgitate the the bottom belly bile opinion of every trashy tabloid journo that’s so new and thought provoking, just like Ballo isn’t it!
I could have made a lot more sense, posted this comment in the correct place used correct gramma and punctuation but I say count yourself lucky you have not had to pay for it!
Awaiting the day I hear someone say to someone else “I think your talking a load of shit actually”
If only you were brave I’d pay to listen.
I think you’re (spelt correctly) talking a load of shit actually.
I don’t get it, if you didn’t pay to listen then how did you listen to the Tuesday review? Sounds like you are talking out of your arse.
