NEIL ATKINSON, Steve Graves, Paul Cope and Andy Heaton are all delighted with The Reds’ performance at Arsenal where they were different class first half and resolute second.
Expect big shouts and tons of joy from The Pink. All The Reds.
What a gang of lads.
I left the dog walk as long as I could but I was worried it was about to crap on the axminster. Anyway, back now and I’ll give this a listen.
Great stuff all round. How the feck am I supposed to get to sleep? Totally buzzing. When Paul(?) said we were going to win the league I felt a tear trickle down my cheek.
Andy is right that no-one should be even contemplating getting on Ibe’s back, but I don’t think he’s been at the races so far this season and today was the worst of the bunch. The lad remains a fantastic prospect, but he gives me every impression that he could do with a spell out of the spotlight to rebuild some confidence and generally get his mojo back. No-one is talking about Origi, but this is a very, very good player. Right now, my only quibble with Rodgers would be that I’d like to see Origi given a run instead of Ibe. But I don’t see them training, so…
Can had his best game for Liverpool. This is a young Michael Ballack both in terms of (potential) quality and the managerial dilemma: is this a defensive midfielder who can offer something in attack, or an attacking midfielder who can defend? I’m not sure even Can knows the answer to this question, but I think we’ll have fun finding out.
Gomez is the player Ferguson thought he had signed when he bought Phil Jones. “The next Duncan Edwards”, Fergie called him. He’s not even the next Duncan Norvelle. Gomez is not only 18, he’ll be 18 for another 9 months. Jones will be 24 before Gomez is 19! He is a physical freak and will be bigger than Micah Richards by the time he’s stopped growing – with the added bonus that he’s good at football. He makes Roberto Carlos look shit and the naked truth is that the best left-back in the EPL isn’t even a left-back.
The low block provided by the central 5 (Lovren-Skrtel with Milner, Can and Lucas screening) was something to behold in the second half. When was the last time we looked so defensively organized? Arsenal created chances, but as was pointed on MNF this was Arsenal’s first-choice front 6. They remain the best quick passing team in the country (with only a handful better in Europe) and we restricted them to 3 attempts on target..at home in a game they must have regarded as one they needed to win given their home loss to West Ham. Carragher pointed out that Lovren is now calling the line and Skrtel seems happy to follow Lovren’s lead. We always suspected Lovren wanted to be the leader and his game has improved immeasurably as he’s stated to assume the mantle of defensive lead. And he’s so good-looking he could turn me.
I’m insanely excited about the rest of the season. Roll on West Ham, another 3pts and another clean sheet and we’ll be in business. Sturridge and Origi waiting in the wings, Coutinho and Firmino reaching match fitness. When the reds draw, we all win.
Best moment of the night? Mignolet getting booked for time-wasting. When was the last time that happened to a LFC keeper? Beyond ace!
Love you all.
(ps Mike’s story on the ‘That’s what we call history” pod about his Dad’s reaction to Dossena’s goal against M*nU is the funniest thing I’ve ever heard broadcast.)
We are, indisputably, the best team in the world.
Smash and grab by Arsenal to get a point cause we battered them. We could have had a Pk when Coutinho was taken out and a Fk when Coqualin took out Benteke at the edge of the box. Great performance by the back 4 and lots of positives with Sturridge coming back. Hopefully Lucas stays cause he is a solid CM to have for tough aways. YNWA
Great display first half. Coutinho gave ball away after finding match winning opportunies far too many times in second.
My worry is, we played better than that and was the best team in the league for 4 months last season, Sturridge came back and nullified our dynamism.
I loved Can in the box – box role. It’s a shame Henderson/Milner will be shoehorned into every game when as hard working as they are, lack forward momentum together. The quality of Milner with the wild horse, mentalness of Can running around looked great with a defensive midfielder behind them.
I was in the Melisa camp regarding Benteke. Now I wish we just had three Benteke’s across the front. He’s a player. An actual player. Stick him anywhere, he’s probably our best player.
Love your content but can you sort your browser based media player out? It’s flakey as sh*t on a mac running chrome. Direct downloads were cool back in the day. Greetings from a transplant in NZ. Keep it up lads! YNWA
Your best bet is to add the feed in iTunes if you have a Mac, mate.
Sturridge and Firmino doing the arms. Wow I can’t wait
