WHEN THE REDS WIN WE ALL WIN
Interesting listening to this. First time the Pink has been my window into what happened in the game. Good stuff.
I’m aware it was Thai All Stars but I can’t help feeling really confident about this season. Every time I try to work out our best 11 I remember someone I’d expect to start who I’d left out. I think we’re strong. Milner and Henderson is exciting and I’d add Allen to that. I’m a firm believer that team spirit can sometimes be as a good as a team of superstar individuals. I think we’ll have it.
I also think there’s a bit of a tendency for Liverpool fans to forget we’ve got Sturridge. For all we know he could be cured of his injury when he comes back. There’s been a bit too much ‘we have to look at Sturridge as a 10 games a season luxury now’. It’s rubbish. At this stage we don’t know his future. I mention that because when you start looking at some of the players in that first 11 and the ones just outside it and then add a fully fit Sturridge into the mix it’s pretty good. I look at City, Chelsea, Utd and Arsenal and the battle for top 4 as a minimum and I wonder where we fit in. If players like Markovic step up to what they’re capable of and Lallana, possibly Can then our squad looks strong. Listening to Rob, Origi may surprise a few. After listening to this he’s already moved from 4th to 3rd choice for me and I’ve never seen him play. There could be surprises for us yet. Firmino even. I often wonder if Markovic had stayed on against Basel would things have been different. The way he played for those 5 or 10 minutes he was on he may well have got the winner and sent us through. You never know. He can still kick on. Clyne might be good. Another I can’t say I know what to expect. Sakho may have more luck with his injuries and Skrtel can be good. I love how he leaked he’d turned down Inter to stay at Liverpool. It’s like that old chestnut ‘I talked so and so into joining Liverpool, I told him what a great club it is’. Thing is, I love all that. It never fails to appease me. I think they’ll be a good buzz about the place with the new back room staff.
P.s I’ve looked a little bit but couldn’t see the attendance or whether the stadium was full. I’d appreciate if someone could answer that.
