Are the two rabbits Max and Ruby?
Once again thanks for your mega amounts of hard work, love your shows, they are generally the best going though a lot of overlap.
but c’mon guys, don’t turn into the daily fail.
If they have new staff immediately they get accused of panic and not standing back and doing due diligence / what’s the hurry when window is still closed/folks on holiday or only in the process of being released by their clubs (eg pako).
If they spend a couple of weeks finding their staff and doing due diligence (as they did with Rodgers) you say what’s going on , incompetence, lack of planning etc etc. Reactionary nonsense.
The U-16s coach is an excellent appointment. 8 yrs at Port and 4 (?) at PSV is tremendous experience at top clubs with strong european credentials.
He clearly didn’t join to remain U16 coach and now he’s bedded in and will have a good relationship with BR so there will be trust between them so he will respect BR but also probably isn’t afraid of him given BR’s weakened position.
Should be a healthy situation for the working staff to critique what BR is doing.
So they can get a new U16 coach at their leisure and they only really have to get an assistant manager in now.
I would expect strong european experience as even if you cut BR some slack – as they have done – you still have to ask questions about all our European failures and big game problems.
So an experienced assistant can only be good for BR and he won’t be afraid of him so will tell him he can’t leave the gaping holes that he currently is.
BR it seems has accepted that new status quo and has a choice to follow or ignore advice.
If he fails he can’t argue that he wasn’t supported or given help, and he can’t claim all was good with the old staff. And FSG have tried to help him before having to chuck a ton of redundancy payout at him.
So sensible stuff really as is this new hiring process. Take a look around, see who’s capable and available.
Lijnders would always have made the list with his experience and has ultimately been chosen after relaxed consideration of what is available. Sounds very sensible to me.
