A deserved win eventually, admittedly against a poor side. Should keep the planes away for a few more games anyway. Numbers and words.
Simon Mignolet: 6
Can he do more with the goal? Probably sees it late. Shouting more, which is good
Glen Johnson: 5
He’s leaving soon. It’s fine, lads.
Emre Can: 7
Has figured out how to transfer his purposeful running to right back. Strong in the tackle too. Go ed Emre.
Martin Skrtel: 6
Was fine, I think.
Dejan Lovren 5
He’s good until he isn’t. Looked confident. But I suppose he always does. Nice of him to get a header on target after swerving it against Villa.
Steven Gerrard 6
Wasn’t great was he? But then he scored and he looked dead happy and it made me dead happy. Has now scored more than Robbie Fowler. And could he play.
Jordan Henderson 7
Much better from the captain elect. High energy and picked his passes well. If England cricketers have to apologise to bowlers for dropped catches then Jordan is probably due one from Raheem.
Adam Lallana 6
Had some nice moments. But you want more. Should score too.
Phil Coutinho 7
Our best footballer. A great goal. Passed it into the top corner. Why don’t more do that?
Raheem Sterling: 5
Hasn’t had a good game since he started telling everyone he might be too good for Liverpool.
Rickie Lambert: 7
Best game for Liverpool? Its easy to concentrate on what he can’t do, and I have, but was great at what he can.
SUBS
Jordon Ibe: 6
Showed good purpose. Might have to get used to being an impact sub in the short term so good that he can be good at it.
Lazar Markovic: 5
Didn’t do much but good to keep him involved
Lucas Leiva: 5
Got Gerrard a great clap

Disappointed in your comment on Glen Johnson sick of going to games and listening to so called Liverpool fans scapegoating players your nearly as bad as those idiots with plane
Thought Rickie Lambert was excellent today, did the job we wanted Mario to do the past few weeks to a better standard. Lallana was good too, other than the miss. I’d start him every week because with a head of steam he really can offer.
Solid win, very necessary, Phil is something approaching a god.
WTRWWAW.
Johnson plays like he’s an alien who’s never seen football that’s been dropped onto the pitch, seems to have forgotten how to play the game.
Always think John’s a little harsh on Lallana, I like him & don’t think he’s as bad as a lot of fans think.
I have always wondered at how JOHNSON has convinced people to see him as a defender. Hevwoukd once have made a great attacking winger. His probiem has always been his freezing when he’s faced with options; when he acts quickly and instictively he can be very effective (or used to be ) but when he has to decide he invariably stuffs up. Lovely footballer, though.
Totally agree with what was said on The Pink re: Rickie. Seems like the key attacking players enjoy playing with him more than Mario. Thought it was great that he got the assist on Coutinho’s goal after a few minutes earlier it looked like Phil was annoyed he didn’t get the ball when Rickie shot straight at Green. Speaking of which, and was thinking this even before he saved the penalty, but wouldn’t mind having Green as the number two keeper next year. Granite he could be shit and only was decent today, but seemed like he could be a capable backup to Migs

I was thinking along similar lines: all of ’em.
Lambert was very very good
But Richard Dunne is shot, stick a fork in him, absolute dog poop, not even championship level
What did we learn today? That Lovren’s a pub player , Johnson’s still dozy and, most damningly, that Rickie Lambert’s better than Mario. Oh and Raheem really, really wants to leave. Two misses from less than six yards in the space of two weeks. Dear me.
Emre Can played a few games at left back for Leverkusen, Glen Johnson is a right back. Peculiar
By the above, I mean Sterling’s head is muddled.
The only thing I saw about the match is the fact that Coutinho played in the midfield. This is a good but another late realisation from Rodgers. The boy is best suited for the role Iniesta plays for Barca. I’ve said that before! That allows three forward players with midfielders (him and Hendo) who can start out attacks. Last rant from me is that Sterling doesn’t deserve to play 90 minutes every week for us. No guarantees. Play him if he’s playing well. Drop him if not. He’s no Suarez. And sell him to City too. For 55m. Bite their hands off with the sum.
Think Lambo must have found his level playing against Richard Dunne and Clint Hill, bless him. Got an assist and looked more likely than Balo in the prior league games though. Really like how he’s basically the same player as Balotelli but with the opposite career path; aging scouser who’s grafted his way through the leagues vs international superstar who’s been tipped for greatness since he was a kid. Both hold it up, have nice touches and take a mean pen but can’t run.
