Neil Atkinson is joined by Ian Salmon, Chris Maguire and, latterly, Mike Nevin, to discuss Liverpool’s 4-1 defeat to Arsenal.
Expect a very frank exchange of views.
Very frank.
Listen, if Liverpool want to do it this way then we have to do it this way.’
The season isn’t over, chin up. FA cup still to play for, even if the demise in the league this season is bordering on the pathetic. BR “done a Spurs”… Karma’s a bitch, eh, Rodgers?
Rodgers could be yet another manager taking a side that finished second all the way down to seventh. FSG may give him the boot, but is there another manager that would be interested in the job under the “committee” and FSG “potential” only signings? I somehow doubt it. We’ll be looking at Pullis and Bruce for candidates at this rate.
Thank fuck we only have to wait until Wednesday. Lose that, and it’ll be meltdown mode for way too many fans. Seriously, they’ve lost their last 3 and are in freefall.
Remarkably positive view of a 4:1 drubbing. Liverpool had 20 minutes of good play in the first half. Before and after that the team and management were a mess. The only reason we looked OK in the second half was because Arsenal eased off, job done. To think that this embarrassment will work in our favour should we meet them in the Final had me in stitches! Liverpool once again this season were simply beaten by a better side with a better manager. No need to spend three shows on this debacle Neil, the truths are self evident.
No goals
The Suarez Money has gone on Lovren lallana moreno balo Lambert and there is no goals and only moreno started today.
The problems all over the pitch is the delta in quality between the players playing and the ones they’ve replaced.
Balotelli in for Suarez.
Lovren in for Agger.
Allen in for Alonso.
Lucas in for Mascherano.
Henderson in for Gerrard.
The list of cock ups in replacing players is what’s killing us as is FSG obsession with “value”.
Rodgers’ is a good manager but from 2nd to 5th after all that money spent doesn’t look good.
Prefer Torres to Suarez with that team (the 2008-9 one that is).
We do have a player in the squad who is willing to take a shot when he’s in the box: Fabio Borini.
And it’s not as if he’s not going to press.
He’s not a great footballer, especially 1-vs-1, but the point of managing is to get the best out of a GROUP of players, and adjust the system and strategy to the personnel available.
Lucas was RUSTY. 1/2 to 1 second too late. It’s not injuries, arthritis or the other nonsense that detractors spew. It’s lack of match fitness.
Not much wrong with Markovic’s pass to Sterling. Just because Sterling doesn’t get to it (probably because he was still in pain from Koscielny’s tackle) doesn’t mean there was anything wrong with the pass. If that pass had been to Lambert, fair enough, that’d have been too fast. But to Sterling? Give it a rest.
Sterling goes any sooner then he runs ahead and offside.
Hoping the next pods on this will be covering Rodgers. Very surprised in the way in which he got a free ride from the lads but understand how they may not want to say anything to the masses that they may regret straight after a game.
The lads have been giving Rodgers a free ride all season.
When he was fucking the whole season up in the autumn they said remarkably little about his performance, then when we went on a good run (results wise) post xmas the most that was said was by Andy who said “I was worried about him a few months ago”
Not saying so at the time was very disappointing and I said so on that pod. Andy replied he hadnt been in in that time. He had. There is no point doing these if they’re not going to give their honest opinions at all times. Too many contributors are far too guarded with what they say. You can tell when they are biting their tongue. Its not a coincidence the best pod in ages came after the utd game when Neil rightly got stuck into our home support.
More of that needs to happen.
