Like Jay said, Mignolet’s only attribute is his shot stopping. If he’s not doing that then, if it was down to me, I’d definitely give Jones a go providing he can stay awake long enough. Deep down, I know my memory is playing tricks on me but I seem to remember one of the pre season friendlies in the U.S where I’ve got an image of Jones punching the ball almost in the corner of the box. I’m sure he wasn’t that far out but even so. Naturally, my heart has sunk in the past when I’ve seen Jones is in goal but I think on all occasions he’s surprised me and done ok. Ok has to be better than wank. At the time he was replacing Pepe and it felt wrong. I’m not convinced it’s feels so bad right now. Sunderland did it when Mannone’s head went during a string of poor results and performances and they haven’t lost in the 3 games since. The status quo just won’t do at the minute. Forget getting a settled back 4 or having an eye on how we want to do things in the future. Just get 11 men out there who will give us a chance of getting the job done today. 3 points at a time.
