Very good podcast, in fairness. I may get in trouble from Crazy Bob writing a comment about the contributors but my over riding feeling listening to this was a reminder about what I liked about the podcasts in the first place. It’s a shame Neil wasn’t there because he also brings something to the show. No disrespect to Andy though. If he was Brendan Rodgers then this week’s podcasts would be Tottenham away last season. Good performance and by far his best to date. Anyway, excellent to have Rob Guttman back on. It was the contributors that made TAW in the first place and tonight was a reminder of those early days. Excellent discussion.
I’m not one for criticising others. …
It was decent, if a bit heavy on the usual #corporatebuttkissers agenda.
No he isn’t dreadful. I really like Andy on podcasts, he is always honest in his opinions, and his combination of being at the same time a bit shy and cocky is quite endearing, actually.
Hope that’s not aimed at me. If it is I think you misunderstood my point.
I enjoyed it, Neil can get a bit ‘wordy’ at times. Made a change to not play pragmatic bingo.
Positive vibes n ting, as long as we find the Liverpool groove again, ill be happy take season like last always, don’t even like prem trophy looks cheap n tacky, not like one Souness tossed around for fun, Holland 74, Brasil 82, Liverpool, 13,14,15,16,17….
I always forget to add the code
ps to regular Kopites why is Poor Scouser Tommy, always sang so quiet apart from Liverpudlian bit, surely mandatory to know it, couldn’t get it out my head last year:)
Fuck the negative shit don’t solve nothing, I don’t know all songs but will learn ones I don’t, I love the away fans, but hard and costly to get tickets, I should get in for free anyway like Chile fans;) especially at Anfield coz I will make noise, jump around and support the team, that energy then transmitted to the team, that will ‘get by with a little help from my friends’
I don’t need no alcohol and I am not a kid either, The youth are getting restless…
Don’t know who u are but I like ya !
Just finished listening and great as always. Just a few points. In the context of this season it is absolutely ridiculous that some “fans” are calling for Rodgers head…simply bizarre! Although in the bigger picture one thing Liverpool fans can’t be called is impatient. I’ve been patient for 25+ years now and I can count on one hand how many times in that period we’ve truely challenged for the title and we’ve yet to do it in back to back seasons. I believe fans just want to see us consistently challenge for the title year in year out. We deserve that, we’ve been patient enough.
On the Balotelli thing I firmly believe there’s more to come from him but the lad is not gonna score if he doesn’t get in the box. He never touched the ball once in the opposition box on Wed night! I think most people agree our best formation is the 4-4-2 diamond so why not just stick to it even when Sturridge is out. Borini is not at the level of Sturridge but what he does bring to the game is movement and lots of it. Balotelli is being outnumbered and attracting “special” attention from defenders. Play Borini beside him, buzzing round him, running in behind to give the defenders something else to think about, creating that bit of space and hopefully more danger in and around the box.
Lastly on signing those “big” players. Last summer we were heavily linked with the likes of Costa, Mhikatarayan and Willian and while we were beat by teams offering CL football or willing to pay more at least we were targeting that type of player. This summer, with CL football, we seemed to drop down a level on who we were targeting bar Sanchez. Now I’m all for buying young potential on the cheap or picking up quality players that other clubs deem no longer useful but every now and then you just have to go out and spend that bit extra to get a top quality player who will step straight into your team and make a big difference straight away. This summer was perfect time to do it with Suarez leaving, the money we had to spend and our return to CL football. I don’t expect us to do this every window but every other window or 1 in 3 would greatly elevate our team and I don’t think the argument that we don’t have that money holds water because look at the money we have spent even in the last 5 yrs on the likes of Aspas, Alberto, Assaidi, Borini, Coates, Charlie Adam, Downing, Carroll etc. Bringing that type of player into your team not only helps you keep hold of the stars you already have but also attract more stars to come and play for you. I’m not writing off any of our summer buys at all, I just think www missed a fantastic opportunity to sign a special player this summer who would go straight into the team and worry the opposition. So far I don’t get the impression that any of our new signing scare the opposition.
The podcast before a match should be recorded and released at least couple of days before the match day. Releasing it late night before the match day does not serve the purpose for some fans like me who cannot listen to the podcast in one go.
Your podcasts are amazing but by the time I (many other fansas well) get to listen to one properly, the match is already on or over. This is specially true when a podcast is released on a friday for a saturday game (eg. this week).
YNWA from Switzerland!
Nothing we can do about that, unfortunately. The show before the weekend games is a live radio show going out on a Friday at 5pm.
For me personally this was a great PodCast – a welcome breath of fresh air. I’m not exaggerating when I say that sometimes the only thing that honestly makes me want to stop supporting Liverpool is the impatient, fair weather fans with no sense of perspective – they drive me that crazy!!! The PodCast showed me that there are actually Liverpool fans out there with a sense of perspective – Pheeeeeww!!! Can’t the others see a potentially great manager when they see one?!
