It’s like Rafa’s last season all over again. Come 2nd the year before, sell your best player and make weak signings with the money then then watch the team sink as the managers is engulfed.
well that’s it really. you’re only as good as your signings for the FIRST TEAM. The rest of it doesn’t really matter as much and is always hit and miss unless you have super expensive benches the way Utd used to.
Put the full backs aside for the moment and our first team signings were Lallana, Lovren and Balotelli, the latter 2 are just disasters and it beggars belief that a table of highly paid “experts” can sit around and say they are two good signings that suit our style and are worth big money. Noone in their right mind would pick those two and it’s killing our season, so how did Liverpool end up wiht them? It’s total BS.
I thought that Martin was extremely disrespectful to Lucas. Lucas was superb against Middlesbrough, man of the match. He is a great professional but is just the latest player to be frozen out by Rodgers. Martin’s reasoning that he wouldn’t get into a top four side is something that could be applied to a number of our players and as for his other criterion, he has no future here, again players like Johnson, Lambert, Mingolet and arguably Balotelli fail that test as well.
I wish Rodgers would forget his personal agenda and give Lucas a chance to help the team.
This all day long – Lucas has always been a dignified hard working member of our squad. To be treated like this is to be honest, shameful – especially as we continually watch SG flounder in the role Lucas is best at. Poor by Rodgers all round
I’m ok with the Hull game. We desperately needed a clean sheet to give the back four some confidence so going solid makes sense. Can got more minutes under his belt too. I’d play the same back 5 against Swansea. They need a run playing together to give them confidence. Great hungover voices, Steve Graves excepted btw. The sound of suffering!
Big problem this season: No leaders on the pitch.
Totally agree about the continuation of partnerships to gain some much needed confidence. Skertel and Lovren to start. Johnson for some attacking threat. However, prefer never to see Enrique within 5 miles of the stadium. Needs to go in January. Moreno is young. Play him every game. He played 43 times for Sevilla last season.
Do not see the point in playing Lucas and he should also be sold in January and also agree that when resting Gerrard we need to try out something new, so Henderson and Can holding with Coutinho being a must to get a run of games. He offers us something that nobody else does.
Sterling needs rested, so its a straight choice between Markovic and Lallana at the tip of the diamond. Seeing that we spunked 20 million on Markovic and he has had limited game time and short of confidence, its a no brainer for this to be the night that he hopefully shows us why Brendan thought he was worth so much. We cant just write him off and I really hope tomorrow is the night he steps up. However I do worry that Brendan doesnt know exactly how to get a team with Coutinho, Lallana and Sterling in it.
Up front. No brainer. Ballo and Lambert.
Fingers crossed.
Henderson holding!?? Just go the whole hog and get Mingolet into the holding position, probably wouldnt do any worse than Henderson being there. We cannot just throw a player into a holding role and expect it to work as we see with SG. Lucas is a bona fide holding player but Rodgers has him on his black list and so will not play him there and wants him out.
No one wants to see Suso? For shame. Joe Cole came on for Villa tonight which reminded me of when he started the last time we played Swansea in the league cup. Things can always be worse…
Isn’t he injured until January?
Really?! Gutting… He’ll probably be getting loaned out by that point as well.
