This week’s Citytalk show had to be recorded live due to the relentless roll of transfer deadline day. Accompanying a hoarse Neil were John Gibbons and Nick O’Prey while in the background Andy Heaton kept all aware of any developments. On the phone were Rob Gutmann and Rory Smith. The Anfield Wrap captured deadline day chaos but everyone survived.
Music this week from from from Death Masks and Voo.

Facing into another season with no strikers. If Suarez gets injured or suspended now then what. FSG need to just sell up & move on if thing are that bad. They also need to remember that Camolli was their man. Her’s to a future of looking up the table at the likes of Spurs Everton & Swansea. The very least we should do is bring Andy back off loan.
I predicted we’d miss out on Dempsey and any other player earlier in the day. Honestly THE most amateurish dispaly from a football club I’ve ever seen.
I feel sorry for Brendan and Dempsey. Whole summer there’s been no diirection, no system in place and no communication and no action. FSG aren’t serious about champions league…
Serious questions need to be asked now about the funding and general management of this club. The shennanagns with Dempsey is like a man who invested his life savings in buying a Ferrari but decides to keep it in the garage cos he cant afford the weekly petrol bill. Dempsey had the potential to add 15-20 goals to our tally this season and perhaps the next two or three after. We have ended up paying Newcastle £35 million to strengthen not only them but, eventually, West Ham too. Heads should really roll. The new manager has been hung out to dry for the sake of the football club’s equivalent of a tenner extra. The ownership and senior management of LFC have just revealed their true abject lack of any genuine ambition for their so called “highly prized” investment. We need to get behind Brendan and the team more than ever, but one fears that they are now just Lions Led by Have Arsed Donkeys. Disgusted.
FSG have been pretty clear about spending within their means, so not paying for Dempsey because he is 29 years old and has only 1 year left on his contact are legitimate reasons. Where FSG are having clear and concerning problems is the communication aspect of this. If Ayre did not communicate to BR as soon as he arrived that the transfer kitty included wages paid, then Ayre should be fired. That is a simple communication miscue that may cost Liverpool points during the fall months. Rodgers was quoted when he arrived as saying something along the lines of, “I have not been successful at places where I did not have full control.” Here is a perfect example.
If FSG (please) fire Ayre and hire a new managing director, he should serve under BR for negotiating purposes only. And let him be savvy at negotiating, not take the tit like Comolli.
BR needs the final say here. This whole mess makes everyone look stupid.
By the way, great job as always guys.
